Kirtan @ The Yoga Lab!

Kirtan @ The Yoga Lab!

Join us at The Yoga Lab in Winter Springs for a heart-opening and uplifting evening of music and mantra!

Kirtan is a practice of Bhakti yoga, the yogic path of devotion.   We chant sacred mantras and divine names in repetition, often in a call-and-response format, set to music. The leader (or “wallah”) chants a line, and then the group responds with the same line. A back-and-forth rhythm is created that’s easy to follow. We repeat the mantras again and again, so even if you’re new to mantra chanting, it’s easy to join in. The mantras are usually in Sanskrit, the ancient language of yoga that carries powerful energetic vibrations. Like all other paths of yoga, this practice removes the veils of all that we are not, so we can perceive the true Self…which is LOVE…Divine, Universal Love!

Kirtan is for everyone. You do not have to be a “good singer” to sing kirtan. This is the yoga of Emotion (energy in motion). So it is not about how you sound. It is about how you feel.  You’re encouraged to sing from your heart! When we raise our voices together, we feel present, connected, unified and full of love.

Bring something comfortable to sit on, your water bottle, and a few beloveds. The more powerfully we raise our voices together, the bigger the healing vibration we create to benefit all beings everywhere!

Suggested Donation: $25 (No one gets turned away)

We have all been reeling from the devastating effects of hurricanes Milton & Helene, whether we were directly affected, or from our grief for our brothers & sisters who have been affected. Let's come together in community, express our gratitude for our lives, for each other and to raise the vibration to benefit the recovery of those who are still suffering. Our chanting together is powerful, heart-opening and healing not just for ourselves, but for all beings.

ALL DONATIONS WILL GO TO HURRICANE RELIEF IN FLORIDA.

If you cannot attend the kirtan, but would like to make a donation, I’ve included The Urban Ashram’s QR codes for Venmo and Zelle (I don’t know how to make them smaller!)

In-Person Laughter Yoga @ The Maitland Library

Laughter Yoga is a unique & gentle form of exercise in which we combine breathing techniques from yoga with laughter exercises. This brings extra oxygen into the body, creates feel good hormones called endorphins, thereby creating a joy cocktail that makes us feel more energetic & healthier! Laughter Yoga connects us to our innate, playful nature. When we allow ourselves to be playful, laughter flows like a fountain! It can be practiced standing or sitting in a chair by EVERY body, regardless of age or fitness level. If you can breathe, you can do Laughter Yoga! Laughter Yoga has been scientifically proven to: release stress; boost the immune system; exercise your heart & lungs; elevate mood; improve circulation; reduce symptoms of arthritis, asthma, allergies & pain; and foster feelings of kindness, joy, forgiveness & love. Laughter truly is the best medicine!
Special Note: No yoga mat is needed, and this program is open to attendees of all ages! Laughter Yoga can be practiced standing or sitting, regardless of fitness level. If you can laugh, you can do Laughter Yoga. It’s best to do Laughter Yoga on an empty stomach.
This program is presented by Dana Kaplan and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.
Class is FREE.

Kirtan @ Sacred Lands, St. Pete

Join Dana Kaplan, Julie Fischer, Heather DeRigo and the OMazing Sacred Lands community for an evening of devotion, healing, joy and high vibration as we chant the Sacred Names together. Kirtan is the Bhakti Yoga practice of call & response devotional chanting. Engaging in the practice may just open your heart, calm your mind, soothe your soul and connect you to the divine spirit within (that is within ALL of us)!

Dana's powerful & soulful voice will guide you deeper into the bliss with "original" Western rock & pop melodies paired with ancient, Eastern mantras.
Julie leads the response vocals
Heather keeps the groove on percussion.

Being that summer has arrived, we will be inside!

Love donations graciously appreciated.

YIN YOGA w/ LIVE SACRED MUSIC & GONG BATH

Register by calling The Urban Ashram: 407-558-4696

Allow Dana Kaplan, E-RYT 500 to guide you through a deep, restorative yin yoga practice that will prepare you for a great night of rest! Yin yoga is a series of long-held floor poses in which we relax the muscles completely to allow the gentle stress of the pose to sink into the deep connective tissues (joints, ligaments, bones, cartilages, tendons & fascia). This gentle stressing of the connective tissues increases our range of motion. The focus is on the hips and lower back where we are abundant in these yin tissues. This practice is accessible to all levels of practice. Dana’s voice will guide and relax you. Richard’s heavenly music will help you to let go completely and go even deeper into bliss. The practice will end with a guided meditation and sound bath.

About our touring guest musician, Richard Brookens:

Following the energy of a Yoga class with live music, sometimes over original recorded tracks is a natural fit for a jazz musician who is also a Yoga teacher.  Richard’s Alto Flute, Bamboo flutes from India and China, Gongs, Crystal Chakra Bowls and Tibetan Singing Bowls, Chimes, and Ancient Sanskrit Mantra melodies create a tapestry of uplifting and peaceful vibes, opening the heart as the Asana opens the body.

Richard Brookens has been a professional musician for over 50 years and has taught Yoga and Meditation for the last 25 years. It was an organic process for him to combine his love of music and Yoga to play for Yoga classes over 20 years ago. He is currently on the faculty of Barry University in Miami, Florida and currently teaches 15 Yoga and Meditation classes a week.

Energy Exchange: $35

Space is limited. Pre-Registration highly recommended

Register at The Urban Ashram: 407-558-4696

***What to bring***

Your yoga mat and any other props you have (blankets, pillows, blocks, bolsters).
